Fitness Friends is based on a philosophy of making fitness fun and friendly, so it would seem the best way to start welcoming you to my classes would be to tell you a little about me. I find writing about myself very difficult, so I have gone for an interview style format rather than a typical bio!!
Q: Where do you live?
A: Originally, I am from Darlington but I now I live in Richmond with my husband and children.
My classes are held in different venues across Catterick and Richmond.
Q: How long have you been a fitness instructor/dancer?
A: I qualified as a fitness instructor in November 2016 and since then I have been on a further 4 fitness courses to allow me to continue developing within my chosen field. I feel it is important to keep up to date with the latest trends and refresh my training, as well as being able to offer variety of classes for my clients.
Q: Have you always been into fitness?
A: Definitely, I loved nearly all sports as a child and was also a keen dancer studying Ballroom and Modern Sequence with both Northern Counties and IDTA. As an adult I have probably over the years attended nearly every type of fitness class available and I also loved to be in a gym working out. That said it isn’t always easy to keep up work, family and exercise commitments so it was only in recent years that I was able to increase my fitness levels.
Q: What made you decide to be a fitness instructor?
A: As mentioned above I have always had an interest in dance and fitness and in recent years I had been able to follow my passion by attending more classes and going to the gym more regularly. I had lost weight that I had out on due to children and medication and I also helped a close friend lose weight. I decided I wanted to make my passion my career, so I booked onto a training course and have never looked back!
Q: What are your hobbies and interests?
A: I love to sing, dance and act so my main hobby for the last few years has been Amdram. I have taken part in Summer shows and Panto, often being the lead male (oh yes I was!) I like to read and often read two or three books at once., hence my kindle is my best friend now my bookshelves are full. I have many other hobbies and interests as I like to keep busy and like to encourage my children to be active. As a family we are often out walking, visiting areas of interest, castles and museums’. If the children choose we spend time eating out and going to the cinema!
Q: What are your goals and ambitions?
A: My goal for Fitness Friends is to have happy and healthy clients who enjoy attending classes, events and social nights together. Getting and keeping people exercising can be difficult and I feel great achievement from seeing people investing in their health and fitness by coming to classes and choosing a healthy lifestyle.
My ultimate personal goal is to own a dance/fitness studio I can call mine!
